Why Caps Need Special Digitizing

A cap is not a flat shirt. The front is curved, often stiff with buckram, and split by a center seam. A file digitized for a polo shirt will usually pucker, shift or stitch off-center on a cap. That is why cap logos are digitized differently:

• Center-out sequencing. Stitching starts in the middle and works outward and upward, which pushes the fabric away from the center instead of bunching it.
• The right underlay. A stable underlay holds the fabric against the hoop, so satin columns and small letters stay crisp.
• Height and width that fit. Most cap fronts allow a design about 2 to 2.25 inches tall. We size your logo to fit and keep small text readable.
• Pull compensation for curves. Columns are widened slightly so they look even once the fabric curves.
